Dr. Heber is included in the "The
Best Doctors in America" and "Who's
Who in America?" He has authored
over 100 papers and four books for the public,
including "What Color is Your Diet?"
Dr. Heber's main research interests are obesity
treatment and nutrition for cancer prevention
and treatment. Dr. Heber holds a B.S. in Chemistry,
Magna Cum Laude, UCLA, 1969; M.D. Harvard Medical
School, 1973; and Ph.D. in Physiology, University
of California, 1978. He is board certified in
Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism
by the American Board of Internal Medicine and
in Clinical Nutrition by the American Board
of Nutrition.
Dr.
Louis Ignarro, a Nobel Laureate in Medicine
1998
Dr. Ignarro has made exceptional contributions
to the advancement of science, including winning
the Nobel Prize for Physiology/Medicine
in 1998 for his research on Nitric
Oxide. His work has inspired scientists around
the world and ushered a new era in cardiovascular
diagnostics and treatment.
A Distinguished Professor of Pharmacology,
UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Ignarro served
as Professor of Pharmacology at Tulane University
School of Medicine, New Orleans. Before teaching,
he served as a scientist at CIBA-GEIGY. Dr.
Ignarro has published many articles and received
the Basic Research Prize of the American Heart
Association for outstanding contributions to
the advancement of cardiovascular science. He
was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences
the same year, and into the American Academy
of Arts and Sciences the next.
Dr. Ignarro holds a B.S. in Pharmacology, Columbia
University, 1962, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology,
University of Minnesota, 1966. He received his
Postdoctoral Fellowship from the National Institutes
of Health, 1968.
Jamie
McManus, M.D., F.A.A.F.P.
A vegetarian and runner, Dr. McManus started
using our nutritional supplements in 1990. In
1997, she joined the company as Senior Vice
President, Medical Affairs & Education,
and was appointed to the Medical Advisory Board,
assisting in the development of new products.
Motivated by her philosophy that medicine integrates
a variety of healing methods including nutrition,
exercise, supplements and herbs, Dr. McManus
created the "Doctor - Distributor Network"
of medical professionals from various disciplines.
This worldwide network provides information
to health professionals interested in the power
of nutrition. Dr. McManus holds a B.S. in Biological
Sciences, Cum Laude and a M.D. with honors,
achieving membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha
Medical Honor Society at the University of California,
Davis and is included in "The Best
Doctors in America". After completing
her residency and a Fellowship with the American
Academy of Family Practice, she practiced family
medicine in California and Washington for 14
years before joining Herbalife in 1997.
Mario
Rosenberg, M.D.
Dr. Rosenberg is a practicing physician and
member of Herbalife's Scientific and Medical
Advisory Board. Along with his practice in Beverly
Hills specializing in internal medicine, gastroenterology,
preventive health care and nutrition, Dr. Rosenberg
also founded the Research Foundation of America
for clinical trials in the treatment of gastrointestinal
disease and obesity. Board Certified in Internal
Medicine, 1976, and Gastroenterology, 1977,
Dr. Rosenberg serves as the Clinical
Chief, Division of Gastroenterology, at Cedars
Sinai Medical Center and Associate
Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA
School of Medicine.
Dr. Rosenberg graduated Magna Cum Laude from
the National University of Mexico School of
Medicine, 1971. He completed internship at Tulane
University and residency in internal medicine
at Tufts University. While an instructor at
Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, he completed a
gastroenterology fellowship at the prestigious
Harvard Medical School-affiliated
Lahey Clinic.
Kim
Krumhar, Ph.D, CNS
Dr. Krumhar brings a wealth of knowledge and
experience to his role as Director of Product
Development, responsible for identifying new
concepts and ingredients. He has earned over
two decades of experience in nutrition-related
product development, including his work for
the Nestle Research and Development Center,
working with popular brands including Carnation
Instant Breakfast and Stouffer Lean Cuisine.
Dr. Krumhar is a Certified Nutrition Specialist
and author of multiple articles, a reviewer
for Physiology and Behavior, a reviewer for
the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center (HNRC)
and a member of the Advisory Board of MenuDirect
Corporation.
Dr. Krumhar holds a Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences,
University of Arizona, Tucson, 1985; a M.S.
in Food Science/Technology, Arizona State University,
Tempe, 1982; a B.S. in Biological Sciences,
University of Arizona, Tucson, 1978; and a B.A.
in Anthropology, University of Arizona, Tucson,
1974.
Janice
E. Thompson, Ph.D.
In her role as Senior Vice President, Scientific
Affairs, Dr. Thompson manages Herbalife's external
scientific research programs. Previously, Dr.
Thompson served as CEO of botanical-based drug
developer Ancile Pharmaceuticals
and worked with start-up Pharmanex,
a botanical dietary supplements company acquired
by NuSkin. From 1990 to 1995, Dr. Thompson was
Founder and CEO / founder of CalBioMarine Technologies,
Inc, a marine natural products research company.
She also served at Affymax Research Institute
(acquired by GlaxoSmithKline) in advanced technologies
for drug discovery. As project officer at the
National Cancer Institute (NCI),
1985 to 1987, Dr. Thompson managed external
research of marine and microbiological natural
products programs for cancer and AIDS treatment.
Dr. Thompson is a National Science Foundation
Graduate Fellow with a Ph.D. in Oceanography
from the University of California, 1982. Her
articles on natural products have been published
in many peer-reviewed scientific publications.
